The UE Boom 2 is rated at offering up to 15 hours of battery life, while the JBL Charge 3 steps things up to 20 hours - though those times will obviously vary depending on use. When it comes to battery life, there’s a clear winner. There are decidedly more buttons on the top of this speaker, but some may prefer the labelled buttons rather than the tap controls on the UE Boom 2. The speaker is clearly designed to be used horizontally, and features battery indicator lights along the bottom, as well as volume, power, and playback controls on the top.

The JBL Charge 3 isn’t as minimalistic, but it still looks pretty great. It’s a pretty nice, smart way to control the speaker. To control playback, you won’t use any real buttons - instead you’ll tap on the speaker.

You’ll also find a power button and a Bluetooth pairing button. Those are the biggest buttons on the device, but they’re not the only ones. On the top of the UE Boom 2 you’ll find two large buttons - volume up, and volume down.

Safe to say, no matter what color you’re looking for you should find something you like from both of these speakers. The UE Boom 2 comes in a hefty 10 colors, while the JBL Charge 3 comes in six. The speakers both come in a few different colors. They both offer a cylindrical design in similar sizes - though the UE Boom 2 looks to be slightly more minimalistic and simple. The first thing you’ll notice about any new product is its design, and both the UE Boom 2 and the JBL Charge 3 look pretty nice.
